Laura Maechtlen has been named one of Law360’s “Rising Stars for 2015” in the Employment category. After carefully reviewing a record 1,200 submissions for this year’s distinction, Law360 selected only 145 attorneys across 29 practice areas. Winners were selected based on their career accomplishments in their respective practice areas. Notably, Maechtlen was one of only five lawyers who made this year’s list as a top employment attorney in the country. This is the third consecutive year that a Seyfarth lawyer was named to Law360’s “Rising Stars” list. Barry Miller and Pam Devata were recognized in 2014 and 2013 respectively. A partner in Seyfarth’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, Maechtlen is Co-Chair of the firm’s Diversity Action Team Executive Committee in San Francisco. Her practice is focused on employment litigation and includes the defense of class, collective and multi-plaintiff actions arising out of alleged violations of Title VII, California Labor Code, the Fair Labor Standards Act and state statutes prohibiting discrimination and harassment in employment. Maechtlen also has experience litigating against the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), both at the early charge stage and in large-scale EEOC pattern-and-practice litigation.
