Biography
Mr. Burney is an associate in the Real Estate Practice Group of the San Francisco office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. His practice focuses on the negotiation and documentation of commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing of real property, and other real estate-based transactions.
Mr. Burney’s leasing practice includes the representation of both landlords and tenants in the leasing of office, industrial and retail space. His finance work includes the representation of both lenders and borrowers in various types of lending transactions.
Mr. Burney's real estate finance practice includes the representation of lenders in obtaining the appointment of receiverships and in instituting non-judicial foreclosure proceedings on distressed properties, as well as negotiating workouts for problem loans. Mr. Burney has also advised both lenders and borrowers on the implications of enforcing a defaulted loan within the framework of California's one action rule and anti-deficiency statutes.
