Ms. Workman is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.  For the first two years of her practice, Ms. Workman worked in Seyfarth’s San Francisco office. 

Defends employers against single and multi-plaintiff claims for:

  • discrimination, including pregnancy, disability, age, national origin and race;
  • retaliation;
  • harassment; and
  • high exposure wage and hour class action claims, including misclassification and unpaid overtime, arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act and/or state wage-and-hour laws.

Routinely handles cases involving:

  • Section 301;
  • retiree medical benefits; 
  • wrongful termination;
  • breach of contract; and
  • other employment-related tort and contract claims.

Litigates in both state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including:

  • Equal Employment Opportunity Commission;
  • Illinois Department of Human Rights;
  • California Department of Industrial Relations; and
  • California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

Resolved numerous employment cases through successful summary judgment motions and motions to dismiss.

Handles litigation for and provides counseling to clients in a variety of industries, including retail, health care, hospitality, the arts, airline transportation, financial and professional services, defense contractors, and technology services.
