Biography
Mr. Roche is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office. Mr. Roche’s practice focuses on trial work and counseling in the areas of trade secrets and restrictive covenants, corporate espionage, unfair competition, and complex commercial disputes. He can assist with patent litigation and other litigation involving complex technology. Mr. Roche has extensive trial and pretrial experience in a variety of commercial litigation matters and has defended numerous personal injury actions involving product liability and negligence. He has experience representing corporate clients from a wide variety of industries including the chemical, construction, general manufacturing, and grocery industries. Mr. Roche is experienced in all phases of civil litigation including fact gathering and investigation, motion practice, written discovery, the taking and defending of depositions, pre-trial, and trial.
Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Mr. Roche worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where he spent time in the Narcotics Prosecutions Division and the Appeals Division. As a former Cook County prosecutor, Mr. Roche is an experienced trial attorney having tried over 70 cases to verdict. In addition, Mr. Roche gained experience writing appellate briefs and argued before the Appellate Court of the State of Illinois, First District. While at Seyfarth Shaw, Mr. Roche has put his extensive investigatory experience to use as he has advised and defended corporate executives and corporations facing federal criminal investigations and charges. In addition, he has conducted several internal investigations involving allegations of fraud and abuse in multiple areas of the law. Mr. Roche has also helped counsel clients on compliance issues and assited them in preparing internal compliance materials.
