People: David C. Mancini, Partner
Biography
David Mancini is a litigation partner in the Washington D.C. office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. His practice concentrates on contract claims and disputes, with a primary emphasis in the areas of construction, government contracts and commercial law. As the need for his services often arises during troubled projects, Mr. Mancini frequently works closely with client project teams to understand, assess and respond to problems during performance. These efforts typically resolve the issues without the need for litigation. When litigation is not avoidable, Mr. Mancini serves as lead counsel in federal and state courts throughout the United States, as well as domestic and international arbitrations. He has prepared or presented over 100 such matters. His extensive experience in resolving disputes large and small also includes mediation, mini-trials and other alternative dispute resolution techniques.
Mr. Mancini also assists clients in contract drafting and negotiations, project risk assessments and allocations, business strategy and training. Mr. Mancini is an integral member of the Seyfarth team nominated for the 2012 Chambers USA Award for Excellence in Construction, and he personally has been recognized in Chambers USA and DC Super Lawyers. He was also a member of the practice group that received the 2008 and 2010 Awards for Excellence in Construction by Chambers USA.
Mr. Mancini's project experience encompasses a broad range of market sectors including power generation, industrial and process facilities, government infrastructure projects and a wide variety of large commercial developments. The particular projects include, for example, educational facilities, cogeneration plants, solar, hydroelectric, corporate headquarters facilities, high-rise residential buildings, security and surveillance systems, satellite and communications deliverables, military bases, mixed use commercial projects, bridges and highways and lock and dams. Geographically, Mr. Mancini’s experience covers the United States from coast-to-coast, and internationally for clients and projects in Australia, Malaysia, China, Japan, several South and Central American countries, Turkey, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kazakhstan and others.
Mr. Mancini also assists government contracting clients with compliance, investigations, disclosures and the defense of claims under the False Claims Act. On such matters he often teams with other partners within his firm that have specialized expertise with white collar criminal defense and investigations.
Client services offered outside the more typical legal case representations include in-house educational and training programs designed to meet their specific business needs and experience. Recent such topics have included change management, government contracts, false claims act and claims certification, design-build, insurance recovery, claims pricing, scheduling tricks and traps, arbitration and mediation, and electronic discovery.
