Evanthia Voreadis is an associate in the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Department in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

Ms. Voreadis advises employers on a broad range of employee benefit matters.  She has experience counseling clients on qualified retirement and welfare plan matters regarding plan design, qualification and administration, fiduciary responsibility, claims procedures, disclosure requirements, and general ERISA and Internal Revenue Code compliance.  Ms. Voreadis regularly drafts plan amendments to accomplish desired changes and to ensure continued legal compliance.  She has assisted clients in drafting plan documents, summary plan descriptions, and employee communications.  Ms. Voreadis has experience advising clients concerning government filing requirements and correction programs.  She has successfully aided clients in resolving retirement plan correction issues with the IRS through the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System.  Ms. Voreadis has counseled clients in resolving fiduciary issues through the Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program of the U.S. Department of Labor. She has also counseled clients in resolving potential or assessed penalties for Form 5500 filing deficiencies.  Additionally, Ms. Voreadis advises employers regarding issues arising in the day-to-day administration of welfare plans with respect to compliance with federal laws such as ERISA and COBRA.

Prior to focusing her practice in the employee benefits area, Ms. Voreadis worked for the U.S. Department of Labor as a trial attorney for the Office of the Solicitor, Office of the New York Regional Solicitor, where she represented the Secretary of Labor in ERISA, OSHA and FLSA enforcement actions.  She also defended the Secretary of Labor in Title VII and personnel actions before the Merit Systems Protection Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Ms. Voreadis also served as a judicial intern to Judge Thomas C. Platt for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
