Biography
Ilan Barzilay is a partner in the Intellectual Property practice group in the Boston office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He focuses his practice on procurement, management, and litigation of patent, copyright, and other IP rights. He counsels clients on a variety of matters including patent and trademark prosecution, portfolio development, opinions, and licensing.
Mr. Barzilay’s experience covers a wide variety of technologies from microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), database management, and financial services software, to flexible sprinklers and medical devices, to equestrian hoofpads, fabric designs, and consumer products. He has represented clients of various sizes, including established corporations, research institutions and emerging companies. Additionally, Mr. Barzilay has successfully litigated against both the largest hospital and the largest furniture companies in the world.
Mr. Barzilay regularly presents on intellectual property law and has been quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, International Business Times, E-Commerce Times, CIO Today, TechNewsWorld, Mass High Tech and NewsFactor.com. Mr. Barzilay is a former adjunct professor of Advanced Patent Litigation at the University of New Hampshire Law School.
