Ms. Tamura is a counsel in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP and is a member of Seyfarth’s Corporate Department. Ms. Tamura concentrates her practice in the area of Trusts & Estates Law, including sophisticated planning of trusts and estates, trust and probate administration, charitable planning, family business and wealth succession planning, and trust and estate litigation.

Ms. Tamura is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a legal specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law.

In her practice, Ms. Tamura develops and implements comprehensive estate plans for high net worth individuals and families, ranging from basic wills and revocable trusts to complex wealth and business succession planning. Her multifaceted practice also includes charitable planning and tax-exempt entities, premarital and marital agreements to address spousal support and separate and community property issues, guardianships and conservatorships, retirement assets and income tax planning, and complex fiduciary estate and trust planning matters.

Ms. Tamura provides guidance to individual and corporate fiduciaries in the administration of probate and trust estates, including post-death administration, estate tax returns, and fiduciary duties and obligations. She has also represented fiduciaries and beneficiaries in various probate and trust disputes such as will and trust contests, accounting objections, breach of fiduciary duties and removal of trustees.

Ms. Tamura has successfully handled several noteworthy matters, including:
  • Wealth transfer planning for U.S. clients with net worth in excess of one billion dollars;
  • Advising celebrity clients in estate planning matters to maintain privacy;
  • Designing sophisticated premarital agreement for CEO with over $400 million in assets;
  • Advising co-trustees in the administration of over thirty related family trusts with substantial assets, involving multiple jurisdictions and beneficiaries within multiple generations;
  • Advising co-trustees in the administration of trusts holding significant illiquid interests in real estate development conglomerate;
  • Obtaining court approval of 20+ years of trust accountings, and successfully defending co-trustees against disgruntled beneficiary objections and appeal of lower court rulings;
  • Obtaining abatement of generation-skipping transfer tax, penalties and interest assessed by IRS due to corporate trustee's late filing of Form 706-GS(T) and payment of generation-skipping transfer tax; and
  • Successfully defending trustee and obtaining dismissal of all claims by third party in U.S. district court and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
