Biography
Mr. Beyer is a Senior Counsel in the Chicago office. Mr. Beyer's consulting practice is built upon a broad-based employment litigation and counseling background along with traditional labor law experience and international employment law experience. He is also experienced in federal, state and administrative agency employment litigation and he has experience handling proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. Mr. Beyer is a frequent speaker on a wide variety of employment and labor law topics.
Mr. Beyer was an associate with Seyfarth Shaw before becoming an in-house legal counsel. Mr. Beyer has over 17 years of experience as in-house corporate counsel. He was a Senior Counsel from 1994-1998 with IBM and then from 1998 to 2011, he was the Director of Employment Law for Accenture, one of the world's largest global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing companies. Mr. Beyer joined Accenture in 1998 as the company’s first employment lawyer and oversaw its growth from 60,000 employees to over 215,000 people in 2011 and 18 lawyers supporting the Employment Law team. Among Mr. Beyer’s many notable accomplishments during his 13 years with Accenture was the management of all employment law aspects of Accenture’s transition from a private partnership to a publicly traded company. Mr. Beyer worked with virtually the entire C-suite of Accenture throughout his tenure.
In 2010, Accenture selected Mr. Beyer as the North America Legal Mentor of the Year. He was a leader in Accenture's corporate citizenship efforts. He formed the Legal Corporate Citizenship Committee in 2004 and led the program until his departure. Accenture's program received numerous awards including the Corporate Pro Bono Partner Award, the 2010 Pro Bono Corporate Partner of the Year award from the Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) and the 2010 Pro Bono Initiative Award from the from the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI). He also serves on the Board of Directors for both CDEL and PILI. Mr. Beyer was elected as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 2006. Mr. Beyer was also a judicial law clerk for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois from 1985-1987.
