People: Jeremi L. Chylinski, Associate
Biography
Jeremi Chylinski is an associate in the Labor & Employment practice area of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Mr. Chylinski represents employers across the United States in litigation and administrative matters, with an emphasis on federal and state wage and hour laws. He has defended numerous class and collective actions brought by employees alleging entitlement to unpaid overtime and minimum wage. Those actions range from the most complex, brought as hybrid actions under state and federal law, to the more basic, asserting individual claims for overtime under the FLSA.
Mr. Chylinski is also an experienced trial attorney. Along with attorneys from the New York City Law Department, he won a significant victory for the City of New York, saving the City hundreds of millions of dollars when the judge decertified one claim of a collective action and a jury rejected two other claims on behalf of 16,000 present and former NYPD police officers and detectives who had asserted various violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act. During the three-week trial, the court also issued numerous favorable rulings interpreting novel legal issues and confirming that the NYPD practices are lawful.
