More About Jeremy
Jeremy is a business lawyer. His corporate clients range from the Fortune 500 to family-owned real estate companies. He partners with his broad array of clients to understand their unique goals, and helps develop strategies to achieve those goals efficiently in court and out. As a front-line litigator, he fights vigorously for his clients, and has successfully put his combination of analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills to use for his clients for more than two decades, earning recognition from his clients and peers alike. He has twice been recognized by his peers in Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top 100 lawyers across all practice areas in the New York metropolitan area. He is also a leader within the firm as co-chair of the New York Litigation group, and he puts his real estate knowledge and experience to use as co-chair of the firm’s Condominiums and Cooperatives practice.
Jeremy is at the forefront of cutting-edge legal issues in the tri-state area and beyond. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he obtained the first judgment in New York on behalf of a commercial landlord seeking to recover unpaid rent from a tenant who cited the pandemic as the reason for its inability to pay. He has also developed innovative and successful strategies such as convincing a federal court to agree with his plan to pursue a pre-discovery bench trial in a breach of contract action, which caused his adversary to settle quickly by awarding his client several million dollars’ worth of stock. He also convinced an arbitrator to take the rare step of granting a pre-hearing motion to dismiss in an International Centre for Dispute Resolution arbitration. And he obtained early dismissal of two separate cases in the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court on collateral estoppel and related grounds after some "in the weeds" fact-finding led to the discovery of prior similar claims asserted by his adversary against others in an out-of-state action, which his adversary had tried to keep hidden. When cases have not been susceptible to early resolution, Jeremy is in it for the long haul, and has been successful at trial, on dispositive motions, and on appeal, including in matters involving trade secrets, false advertising, M&A disputes and business divorces, real estate finance, and co-op and condo law.
Jeremy draws on the firm's cross-discipline, cross-border capabilities to deliver excellent results for clients. Whether it's teaming up with colleagues in Boston to pitch trade secrets work in New England, coordinating with the Los Angeles team to represent a witness in a California proceeding, acting as local counsel for firm clients in the tri-state area, or even reaching across the Pacific to work with the Asia-Pacific offices to facilitate a Chinese real estate sale, Jeremy takes full advantage of Seyfarth's subject matter depth and geographic breadth to get the job done.
