More About Kelly

Clients often face situations that require a quick turnaround, such as terminations, so responsiveness and a quick assessment of the situation are key. Kelly works with many newer companies, whose in-house counsel or HR departments may not have a lot of experience with litigation or counseling; they rely on her for education and insight.

Kelly is a civil litigator who focuses on labor and employment law. Her experience includes appearances in federal and state courts as well as arbitration and mediation proceedings on behalf of public corporations, public retirement systems, charitable organizations, private individuals, and private companies. Representative cases include claims for employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour claims, violation of noncompete agreements, breach of contract, fraud, unfair business practices, and breach of fiduciary duty. She advised clients regarding separation of employment and other labor and employment matters. Other experience includes appearances before the Labor Commissioner defending wage-and-hour claims.

Prior to practicing law, Kelly managed human resources activity for a number of organizations, including a nonprofit scientific research firm, biotechnology company, and consulting company. Her human resources responsibilities included employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration, employee discipline, and management training. Kelly was a law firm client for many years, and brings a unique understanding of the client's perspective that many attorneys do not have.

Kelly enjoys her practice at Seyfarth, where each day presents a different challenge, as each client's situation is unique. Even if the claims are the same as those she's faced before, individual facts make each case different and challenging. Kelly also enjoys getting to know clients and developing relationship with them.
