People: Kristen Agnew, Associate
Biography
Kristen M. Agnew is an associate in the Labor and Employment Department in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP where she represents and counsels employers in a wide range of employment matters. In the area of litigation, Ms. Agnew has defended employers in matters involving allegations of gender, race, age, disability, and national origin discrimination, sexual harassment, defamation, fraud, and wage and hour violations.
Ms. Agnew has experience in almost every forum in California. She has appeared in state and federal trial courts, including second-chairing an age discrimination trial, which resulted in a complete defense verdict. Ms. Agnew has also represented employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the California Labor Commissioner and the Workers Compensation Appeals Board.
In addition to defending employers in litigation, Ms. Agnew provides advice and counseling to employers on all areas of employment law, including personnel policies, wage and hour compliance and litigation avoidance.
Ms. Agnew graduated valedictorian from Spelman College in 2003, with a degree in philosophy. She received a full academic scholarship to Emory University School of Law, where she earned her J.D. in 2006. While attending Emory, Kristen clerked for Administrative Law Judge Allison Smith of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Atlanta.
