Ms. Newman is an associate in the Chicago Office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Environmental, Safety and Toxic Torts Practice Group, and her practice includes environmental and commercial litigation and regulatory compliance counseling involving CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, the Clean Air Act, and OSHA. She has experience defending toxic tort cases arising from groundwater contamination, underground storage tanks, citizen suits, asbestos, benzene and other chemical exposures, and representing commercial and residential building owners in indoor air quality matters. Ms. Newman has also defended clients facing criminal and whistleblower allegations arising under federal and state environmental and workplace safety laws. Additionally, Ms. Newman assists clients with real estate and corporate transactions in identifying and resolving environmental compliance and contamination issues.

In the OSHA and MSHA contexts, Ms. Newman assists clients in identifying workplace safety and health compliance issues, preparing for inspections, developing strategies for defending citations and regularly defends employers throughout the enforcement process, including inspections and enforcement proceedings.

Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Ms. Newman was an associate at a law firm in Baltimore, Maryland and served as a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs.
