Mike Baniak is a highly experienced Intellectual Property litigator and trial lawyer. As a trial attorney, he has been involved in upwards of 300 intellectual property litigations over the course of his career, with more than half of those being patent litigations. Recent cases involved music subscription services, laser sintering, bone prostheses, telecommunications, automobile airbag and position sensing technology, optometry, and HD video. Mr. Baniak has also litigated matters in the pharmaceutical arena including Hatch-Waxman litigation. He has substantial experience before the ITC.

Mr. Baniak has a broad-based practice, and expertise that spans all facets of IP transactions, counseling, and litigation and appellate work, in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret law. He is a true “hybrid,” working in every aspect of IP virtually daily. Mr. Baniak counsels an international array of clients.

Mr. Baniak has been an adjunct professor of patent and copyright law at Northwestern University School of Law since 1986. He is a frequent lecturer as well as program chair on IP topics for the Licensing Executives Society (LES), and many other organizations, such as the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) and Management Forum (UK).
