Mr. Bruchmiller is a senior associate in the Commercial Litigation, Trade Secrets, and Toxic Torts practice groups of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.  Mr. Bruchmiller was a partner at a medium-sized litigation firm in Houston prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw.  He has handled a variety of cases while representing both plaintiffs and defendants.  He has obtained numerous favorable outcomes for those clients through summary judgments, settlements and trial.

Mr. Bruchmiller handles commercial litigation matters involving contract disputes, claims of breach of fiduciary duty, trade secrets, covenants not to compete, insurance broker disputes and various other complex business litigation matters.  He also represents companies and individuals in matters relating to temporary restraining orders, temporary injunctions and permanent injunctions.  He has handled complex commercial litigation, toxic tort litigation and other disputes in the oil and gas, healthcare, alternative fuels, agrochemicals, medical supply, orthodontics, insurance, engineering, staffing, software, construction, banking and many other industries.

Mr. Bruchmiller has handled employment litigation where discrimination and retaliation claims are asserted.  Mr. Bruchmiller regularly overlaps with the Labor & Employment practice group by consulting in the drafting and negotiation of employment agreements and separation agreements for executive, professional, managerial and other high level employees.  Mr. Bruchmiller has also handled toxic tort, personal injury, FELA, life insurance, and civil rights litigation in both state and federal courts.  He has many years of experience defending doctors and hospitals in personal injury and disciplinary matters.

Mr. Bruchmiller has extensive litigation experience, which includes representing many Fortune 500 companies.  He has also handled appellate matters for his clients.  Whether it be individuals, small companies or very large companies, Mr. Bruchmiller has helped his clients successfully navigate the litigation process.  Mr. Bruchmiller has obtained jury verdicts on behalf of defendants and has been on trial teams that obtained multi-million dollar jury verdicts on behalf of individuals.

Representative Engagements

  • Obtained injunctive relief and ultimately a favorable outcome on behalf of one of the largest oilfield supply companies in the United States in a lawsuit against a competitor that involved allegations of misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty and tortious interference.
  • Obtained summary judgment and a large attorneys’ fees award on behalf of an individual in the medical sales business that generated a seven-figure amount of annual sales, wherein his former employer, a subsidiary of a multi-billion dollar company, claimed he misappropriated trade secrets among other allegations.
  • Represented one of the world’s top-five largest insurance brokers in a dispute where the plaintiff alleged over $30 million in damages based on allegations of negligence, breach of contract, design defects and construction defects.
  • Consulted in the drafting of an employment agreement on behalf of a high-level executive wherein over $17 million in stock awards was involved.
  • Obtained injunctive relief and ultimately a favorable outcome on behalf of a very large software company in a case against a competitor that involved allegations of misappropriation of trade secrets, employee theft, breach of fiduciary duty and tortious interference.
  • Represented a family in a parental rights appeal to the Texas Supreme Court and ultimately prevailed when the Texas Supreme Court denied the appellant’s petition for review.
  • Obtained injunctive relief on behalf of one of the world’s largest staffing companies against a competitor in a lawsuit involving allegations of misappropriation of trade secrets and a breach of a noncompetition agreement by a former employee.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a large insurance company in a case that involved allegations of insurance fraud relating to a half-million dollar policy.
  • Represented a surgeon that was alleged to have committed malpractice and obtained a jury verdict in favor of the physician after less than 40 minutes of deliberation by the jury.
  • Prevailed in getting over 400 cases remanded from a Federal MDL so that the individuals could have their day in Court, some of which were later awarded multi-million dollar jury verdicts.
