Samuel Sverdlov is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.  Mr. Sverdlov defends and counsels employers on a wide range of employment and labor-related issues, including traditional labor law, whistleblower retaliation, OFCCP compliance, affirmative action, pay equity, complex discrimination, class and collective actions, and wage and hour matters.  Mr. Sverdlov's practice includes a strong emphasis on complex labor relations issues, including union campaigns, impasse bargaining, unilateral implementation issues, scope and composition of bargaining units, and Section 10(j) relief.  

Mr. Sverdlov is a thought-leader on labor and employment issues related to rapidly evolving state medical and recreational marijuana legislation.  Mr. Sverdlov tracks developments in the law, provides strategic counsel for employers to avoid workplace disputes, and is a frequent contributor to The Blunt Truth.  

In addition, Mr. Sverdlov is also a member of the firm’s ADA Title III Specialty Practice Team, and advises and defends public accommodations in matters arising under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and other state and local laws concerning disability access.  Mr. Sverdlov has experience successfully representing universities, restaurants, and retail establishments in private party litigation and agency enforcement actions filed under ADA Title III.  Mr. Sverdlov is also an active and established member of the New York City Bar Association, and serves as Secretary of its Disability Law Committee. 

In Mr. Sverdlov’s short career, he has already proven to be an adept and effective litigator.  Mr. Sverdlov has successfully defended employers before administrative agencies and both state and federal courts on issues related to discrimination, wage and hour compliance, unfair labor practices, accessibility, and equal pay issues.  Mr. Sverdlov has a reputation as a strong and persuasive writer, which has been critical in having matters dismissed through dispositive motions before trials.  Further, Mr. Sverdlov’s aggressive advocacy has contributed to a number of favorable settlements for his clients.
