Samuel Sverdlov is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Mr. Sverdlov defends and counsels employers on a wide range of employment and labor-related issues, including traditional labor law, whistleblower retaliation, OFCCP compliance, affirmative action, pay equity, complex discrimination, class and collective actions, and wage and hour matters. Mr. Sverdlov's practice includes a strong emphasis on complex labor relations issues, including union campaigns, impasse bargaining, unilateral implementation issues, scope and composition of bargaining units, and Section 10(j) relief.

Mr. Sverdlov is a thought-leader on labor and employment issues related to rapidly evolving state medical and recreational marijuana legislation.  Mr. Sverdlov tracks developments in the law, provides strategic counsel for employers to avoid workplace disputes, and is a frequent contributor to The Blunt Truth.

In Mr. Sverdlov’s short career, he has already proven to be an adept and effective litigator.  Mr. Sverdlov has successfully defended employers before administrative agencies and both state and federal courts on issues related to discrimination, wage and hour compliance, unfair labor practices, and equal pay issues.  Mr. Sverdlov has a reputation as a strong and persuasive writer, which has been critical in having matters dismissed through dispositive motions before trials.  Further, Mr. Sverdlov’s aggressive advocacy has contributed to a number of favorable settlements for his clients.

Mr. Sverdlov joined the firm initially as part of the Labor & Employment Department’s Fellowship program, an innovative training-focused program for law students with an affinity for labor and employment law. While in law school, Mr. Sverdlov was a law clerk at a union-side firm in New York City, and clerked for the Chief Administrative Judge at the EEOC Office of Administrative Judges.
