Partner

Tobi helps clients analyze transactions from both a business and legal perspective. She understands that closing a deal is the beginning—not the end—of a particular transaction.

More About Tobi

Tobi concentrates her practice in transactional real estate law, providing business-driven outcomes for institutional property owners, investors, and developers in all aspects of acquisition, financing, development, and leasing of various property types including retail, office, industrial multifamily residential, student housing, hospitality, and healthcare facilities locally and nationally. In addition, she counsels clients in the areas of troubled debt restructuring, distressed asset, and distressed loan acquisition and disposition. Tobi has extensive experience representing both borrowers and lenders through note purchase and sales, deeds in lieu, and 363 sales. Her variety of experience representing clients ranging from large pension plans to local developers and more intimate companies provides her with a framework to meet clients where they are and tailor her advice appropriately while seeing the big picture.

As part of her real estate finance practice, Tobi represents borrowers, and national and local banks in acquisition, bridge, construction, and permanent loans—whether balance sheet, syndicated, or securitized. She also advises banks on structuring construction loan transactions to ensure HVCRE compliance.

Tobi draws from her background as special asset counsel to a local community bank, where she served prior to joining Seyfarth. The unique experience of working for a troubled bank on the verge of takeover by the FDIC gave Tobi valuable insight into both bank operations and also the need for increased diligence in lending. It also taught her to find practical solutions to work out troubled debt situations, and to always consider the business implications of any and all legal decisions. She has adhered to this practical approach in all matters for all types of clients.

By getting to know her clients' business, Tobi understands what's most important to them. Knowing clients' goals helps her focus on what really matters.
