Mr. Kakarla is counsel in the Intellectual Property Department in the Washington, D.C. office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He frequently represents clients involved in patent litigations before the federal courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission. His experience involves lead roles in all aspects of patent litigation including pre-filing investigations, discovery practice, trial, and post-trial briefings and motions. Representative technologies include computer networking devices, digital signal processors, mobile handsets, GPS navigation devices, and satellite radio. 

Mr. Kakarla also provides strategic counseling on patent protection and enforcement. His experience includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the electrical arts before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, advising clients on the best approaches to stop infringing activities by competitors, and counseling clients on strategies to enforce existing patent portfolios. In addition, Mr. Kakarla provides opinions regarding commercial products and activities in view of competitor patents.

Prior to joining Seyfarth, Mr. Kakarla was an attorney at a large intellectual property firm and gained technical experience working as an engineer for the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute. As an engineer, Mr. Kakarla specialized in electromagnetic compatibility analysis for radar and telecommunication applications used by the U.S. Navy.
