Biography
William R. Schubert is a staff attorney in the Environmental, Safety & Toxic Torts practice group of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Chicago office. He has performed legal services through a diverse range of experience in the environmental profession, as well as in other areas of administrative and public law. As a visiting student at the Chicago Environmental Law Clinic, Mr. Schubert counseled a non-governmental organization on the legal and economic repercussions of a proposed alternate energy plan. He also completed law student internships at two environmental agencies: the Illinois Pollution Control Board and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (Region 5, Office of Regional Counsel). His work at the Pollution Control Board included drafting opinions and preparing proposals for state regulations. At EPA Region 5, he conducted research on statutory interpretation questions arising in the course of enforcement under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act. Mr. Schubert also has a strong background in antitrust law and economics. His antitrust litigation experience includes work on behalf of plaintiffs (both consumer classes and private), governments, and defendants.
Mr. Schubert has contributed scholarship to the global discussion of law and economic policy. He has been published in North America, Europe, and Asia. He is proficient in Spanish as a second language.
