Biography
Derek J. Gilliam is an associate in the Atlanta Office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP and is a member of the Labor and Employment Practice Group. Mr. Gilliam focuses his practice on the areas of single plaintiff litigation and client counseling. With a strong litigation background, Mr. Gilliam regularly assists clients with a variety of employment issues, including defending claims of discrimination and harassment based on sex, race, national origin, age and disability in state and federal court, before administrative agencies and in arbitration proceedings. Mr. Gilliam's practice also involves defending and prosecuting breach of contract and restrictive covenant claims and he regularly represents clients in class, collective, and multi-plaintiff lawsuits brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII and state law contract claims.
Mr. Gilliam is also active in the community and is a member of the Wake Forest University Young Alumni Development Board. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc. and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
