Workplace violence is an unfortunate phenomenon. Recent incidents in the media, as well as increasingly stressful conditions in our private lives and the workplace have created a significant rise in workplace violence events and legal issues in addressing and preventing such events. Join Seyfarth Shaw attorneys Mark Lies and Meagan Newman, noted workplace violence legal practitioners, and Tracy Billows, who focuses on workplace counseling and solutions, along with Dr. Alan Friedman, a Chicago-based clinical and forensic psychologist and a leading national expert in the threat assessment of potentially dangerous employees, for a discussion on the strategic actions an employer should consider in response to threats of workplace violence, including hostile employees.

This fast-paced and informative 90-minute program will include a focus on key issues and practical responses, including:

  • An employer's legal responsibility to create a workplace violence policy
  • An employee's legal rights
  • The intersection of OSHA, ADA and FMLA
  • Addressing domestic violence concerns
  • How to identify signs and symptoms of workplace violence
  • What to do when a threat is received
