On December 7, the ABA Criminal Justice Section’s Global Anti-Corruption Committee hosted “Foreign Corruption Prosecutor - The View from Abroad” in Washington.
 
Seyfarth Shaw LLP partner Andrew S. Boutros, National Co-Chair of the firm’s White Collar, Internal Investigations and False Claims Act Team, serves as Co-Founder and Co-Chair for the Global Anti-Corruption Committee and along with his other Co-Chairs, helped organize the event, which was held in Washington, D.C.  Approximately 100 people from government, in-house, and private practice participated in this highly successful event.
 
The speaker, who was later described as “riveting and informative,” addressed the latest anti-corruption cases in Brazil, including the Odebrecht case. He also addressed:
  • the legal system in Brazil;
  • the powers and limitations of public attorneys in Brazil (in terms of jurisdiction and investigations);
  • the Brazilian enforcement system;
  • how the area of anti-corruption is evolving in Brazil; and
  • how Brazil’s law enforcement cooperates with the U.S. and other countries’ law enforcement.
