8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Program

Religious discrimination claims against employers have increased precipitously in the past few years. People do not leave their religion “in the parking lot” when they come to work. Current events and increased globalization are raising our consciousness and bringing issues of religious freedom and observance to the forefront.

Legal definitions of religion are expanding and evolving and our workplace practices must reflect this dynamic reality. The Breakfast Briefing presenters will address:

  • How the law defines religion and religious observance
  • How to communicate your company’s policies about religion in the workplace, religious accommodation, and religious discrimination
  • How the managers who implement your policies need to understand, spot and address needs for religious accommodation
  • Properly accommodating issues relating to dress codes, observance in the workplace, display of religious items in the workplace, excused time off for religious practices and special dietary needs
