On October 24, Los Angeles Senior Counsel John Rogers will join three other ACTEC Fellows to review ethical challenges encountered by estate planners when they represent families in business.  The panel will provide insightful analysis, practical guidance, and resources for the practitioner, including:

  • Conflicts. How to represent more than one client when there are multiple family members and businesses.
  • Self-Interest. How to deal with the issue of gifts or bequests from client to lawyer.
  • Confidentiality. How to reconcile the need for communication among family members and businesses with the duty to preserve confidentiality.

The discussion will be based on ACTEC’s Commentaries on the Model Rules of Professional Conduct, Fourth Edition, accessible free of charge at www.actec.org/public/CommentariesPublic.asp.

This seminar qualifies for 2.0 to 2.4 ethics credit hours, depending on state requirements, in MCLE jurisdictions that accredit live telephone seminars and/or webcasts.
