Stanley Jutkowitz, senior counsel in Seyfarth's Corporate department, taught the on-demand Lawline Course "Introduction to Federal & State Marijuana Laws."
This program will cover the history of federal and state laws pertaining to marijuana—from the federal Controlled Substances Act, under which the manufacture, use, possession and distribution of marijuana are regulated, to the various state laws that legalize both medical and recreational marijuana.
The course will discuss constitutional considerations, the interplay between federal and state laws relating to marijuana, and how different state marijuana laws are structured. Finally, the program will introduce the ways the federal/state interplay impacts the areas of banking, taxation, intellectual property and real estate in the marijuana industry.
