Knowledge of labor law is essential to the practice of HR professionals, employment lawyers, and legal generalists, whether or not you have unions in your workplace. The National Labor Relations Act applies to all employers, and employers are at risk for litigation and other problems when they lack an understanding of this increasingly changing area.

Please join us for Seyfarth Shaw’s 2nd Labor University half- or full-day course at no cost, along with complimentary office hours with instructors in the months following course completion.

The seminar will be divided into four interactive modules covering the following topics:

Morning Session

  • How to navigate the NLRB's decisions affecting social media, settlement agreements, and disciplinary decisions
  • Union organizing issues under the current NLRB and its possible new expedited election rules

Afternoon Session

  • Understanding how to effectively handle grievances and prepare for labor arbitration
  • Collective Bargaining best practices under the current NLRB rules

Seyfarth Shaw LLP is an approved provider of Illinois Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit. This seminar is approved for 3 hours of CLE credit for each session, or 6 hours of CLE credit for both sessions. The CLE certificate issued following the event is transferrable toward HRCI recertification.

Office Hours:  For all those who attend the course, there will be complimentary office hours for one hour each month during the months of June and July 2014. A dial-in conference call will be held where attendees are welcome to ask any follow-up labor questions they have. In addition, course instructors will be on hand to provide the latest developments in the law.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and a cocktail reception will directly follow the program.
