There is no question that the Obama administration and Democratic majority in Congress will have a significant impact on employers. Recent enactments at the state and federal levels will also take effect early in 2009, and all of these changes come at a time of unprecedented challenges for business, as companies struggle to deal with the current economic crisis.

Seyfarth Shaw LLP invites you to join us on Thursday, January 29, 2009 for an up-to-the-minute discussion of the challenges facing in-house employment counsel and HR executives in the new year and beyond.

Learn about new and pending legislation and regulations, how to comply, and best practices for minimizing the risk of violations and litigation. Topics will include:

  • The ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA)
  • The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA)
  • The State Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (NY WARN)
  • New FMLA regulations
  • The Employee Misclassification Prevention Act
  • Hot Topics in Business Immigration

We'll also focus on the role of changing economic circumstances on these issues, including reductions in force, government "bailouts" and the conditions they may place upon employers, and so much more.
