President Obama's appointment of union-friendly officials to the various federal labor and employment law agencies are beginning to affect the decisions and regulations that have been issued as well as on enforcement actions taken by those agencies. Many of those decisions, regulations, and initiatives will have a significant impact on employers in the hospitality industry.
Please join us on Thursday, November 18, 2010, as several of Seyfarth's labor and employment attorneys, Peter Chatilovicz, Alexander Passantino, Jack Toner, and Michael Viccora, examine, among other topics:
-
Decisions and initiatives of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which will impact both unionized and non-unionized hotels.
- Actions and enforcement priorities of the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor including issues on: exempt vs. non-exempt classification of jobs common to the hospitality industry; overtime; meal and other breaks; and gratuity.
- Status of collective bargaining with UNITE HERE in Washington, D.C. and the negotiations and work stoppages in the hotel industry in Chicago, San Francisco, and across the country.
