Biography

Ms. Farabow is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, where she has been practicing international and U.S. contract law for 17 years.  She regularly engages in the negotiation and drafting of design and construction contracts for major Fortune 500 companies ranging from private sector owners to contractors and design professionals.  Much of Ms. Farabow’s practice is devoted to counseling clients on domestic and international procurement issues, contract administration, claims, insurance, risk management and dispute avoidance.  She has extensive experience in negotiating joint venture agreements, teaming agreements, subcontracts and proposals in connection with procurements administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, USAID, and GSA.  Projects abroad encompass the Middle East, Europe and Asia.  She has worked on a wide variety of projects, including hotel development and renovations, condominium-hotels, resorts, multi-family housing, residential condominiums, high-rise office buildings, educational facilities, airports, heavy rail mass transit systems, bridges, military barracks, power plants and wastewater treatment plants.

Through her appointment to the Documents Committee of the Construction Owners Association of America, Inc., Ms. Farabow serves on the Drafting Task Force for the Construction Industry Contracts Coalition to develop new model forms.  She has authored numerous construction law articles and lectured on a myriad of construction and international law topics.

Ms. Farabow has substantial jury and bench trial experience in federal and state courts.  In addition, she has successfully mediated and arbitrated disputes involving complex construction projects and commercial contracts.  These include domestic alternative dispute resolution proceedings as well as international arbitrations conducted under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association and other tribunals.
