Biography
Mr. Becker is an Of Counsel in the Real Estate practice group of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
Mr. Becker possesses wide ranging experience representing institutions, utility companies, rail carriers, universities, developers and national and regional retailers respecting all of their real estate needs. His practice has included: acquisitions and dispositions of shopping centers, office buildings, warehouses and undeveloped properties; large-scale property acquisitions; sale and leaseback financings; synthetic lease financings; drafting and negotiating office, retail and industrial leases, purchase and sale agreements, options, ground leases, shopping center reciprocal easement agreements, railroad and utility easement agreements, and annexation agreements; and zoning and land use matters. Mr. Becker has also served as real estate tax exemption counsel to several local universities.
Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Mr. Becker was Of Counsel from 1998 – 2005 to a Chicago law firm. Mr. Becker’s prior professional experience also includes: (i) Real Estate Attorney for Sportmart, Inc. (from 1995-1998); and (ii) Attorney for the Community Centers Group of Homart Development Co. (the real estate development arm of Sears) (1993-1994).
