Biography

Mr. Johnson  is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.  A member of the Real Estate Practice and Corporate & Finance Practice Groups, he specializes in commercial real estate and has substantial experience in representing owners and investors in all aspects of acquiring, leasing, and developing commercial property throughout the Western United States.  His primary emphasis is in leasing high rise office, retail, and industrial space and in acquiring, developing, entitling, and constructing LEED-certified state-of-the-art industrial facilities for institutional-grade clients.  Mr. Johnson also focuses on real estate finance, with special expertise in construction lending, term financing and energy-related project financing (cogeneration and hydro-electric facilities).  Mr. Johnson routinely advises his clients on matters involving land use and zoning and has broad NEPA and CEQA experience, having represented private clients and municipalities in Southern California in review and approval of discretionary commercial projects.

Mr. Johnson has special expertise in developing industrial and commercial projects on Tribal lands, including issues associated with NEPA compliance, construction, Tribal sovereign immunity, and Tribal governance.  Mr. Johnson also is experienced in negotiating and enforcing easements and rights-of-way over Tribal and non-Tribal lands.
