Biography
Ms. Davitt is a member of the Business Immigration Group at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She has 17 years experience researching and preparing both “Temporary” Professional Nonimmigrant and “Permanent” Employment and Family-Based Immigrant visa “green card” cases. On the Temporary side, Ms. Davitt has prepared F-1, H-1B, J-1, L-1B/A, P, R-1, B-1, E-1/E-2, TN-1, and O-1 petitions on behalf of client companies of varying sizes and spanning many industries.
With respect to the Permanent side of U.S. Immigration case preparation equation, Ms. Davitt is experienced in Labor Certification Applications prepared under both the traditional and "RIR" processes. In addition, she has experience preparing both Professional Labor Certification Applications and Faculty-based Labor Certifications under the U.S. Department of Labor's new "PERM" on-line filing system. Ms. Davitt also has experience with "Outstanding Professor" and "Outstanding Researcher" immigrant visa petitions, and immigrant visa petitions for Multinational Executives and Managers and has successfully shepherded these cases to the green card acquisition stage through her more than a decade and one-half preparing Forms I-485, permanent residence applications, Forms DS-230, Immigrant Visa Petition applications, and on the family-based side, Forms I-130, Immediate Relative petitions for spouses and parents of US citizens. She has also worked on several K-1 Fiancé petitions.
During her career, Ms. Davitt has worked with and provided her considerable expertise and knowledge to client Fortune 500 companies; academic institutions both at the university and college -preparatory levels; hospitals and additional health care concerns; insurance companies; high technology start-ups; financial investment firms; and private corporations, and non-profit religious and non-secular organizations.
Ms. Davitt is also adept at working efficiently and effectively with various government agencies, a skill that is necessary to success in the ever evolving area of U.S. Immigration Law. These include the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security, Citizenship and Immigration Services, Border and Customs Inspection and Enforcement, and the U.S. State and Labor Departments.
Ms. Davitt is a 1988 graduate of Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH), where she majored in Government, and was selected for and completed a prestigious Foreign Study Program in International Relations at the London School of Economics (London, UK), completed the first-year night law school curriculum at Suffolk University (Boston, MA).
Prior to her employment at Seyfarth Shaw, Ms. Davitt was employed for eight (8) years as an Immigration Paralegal and Law Clerk at a boutique U.S. Immigration Law firm in Boston, Massachusetts, and for six (6) years as an Immigration Law Specialist at prominent law firm in Boston, Massachusetts.
In her spare time, Ms. Davitt attended culinary arts school at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts (Cambridge, MA). She also volunteered in the dining room for many years and was elected to serve as a Member of the Board of Directors at Rosie’s Place, a homeless shelter in Boston, Massachusetts, where she also tutors Dartmouth College undergraduates who complete unpaid internships at Rosie’s Place through Dartmouth College’s Tucker Foundation. Ms. Davitt is also a proud Special Olympics Coach, an avid athlete and student of history, literature, journalism, and politics.
