Biography

A partner in the Houston office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, David Waddell is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group. He is a trial attorney with experience in both bench and jury trials,  arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

His trial experience includes work for financial institutions in FCRA, FDCPA, securities, lender liability, bankruptcy and class action matters. Additional experience includes real estate, lease and minority shareholder actions, and a wide array of subject-specific matters ranging from ERISA to product liability.

Mr. Waddell's experience in construction matters includes residential, commercial and industrial prosecution and defense of claims involving bid awards, design defects, warranty issues, erection disputes, delay claims and surety issues. He has OSHA, environmental and mold experience as well as extensive residential homebuilder representation including RCLA and EIFS claims.  Mr. Waddell is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Waddell provides counsel to national and family-owned buisnesses in operational and corporate matters including strategies for reducing exposure to liability in operations, contract, insurance, investigations and employment matters.

Mr. Waddell is active in the Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston as a co-chapter attorney, PAC trustee, and former chair of the Government Relations and Legal Issues Committee. He was appointed in 1999 and served until November of 2002 as Chair of the Texas Supreme Court's Grievance Oversight Committee which annually reviews the Texas attorney disciplinary system.
