David W. Waddell

Biography

Mr. Waddell is a partner in the Houston office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He is a trial attorney with experience in arbitration and both bench and jury trials . Mr. Waddell recently advocated for a foreign company in a contract matter in an ICDR arbitration in the Permanent Court of Arbitration, Peace Palace, The Hague. His trial experience includes work for financial institutions in FCRA, FDCPA, securities, lender liability, bankruptcy, and class actions. Additional experience includes real estate, lease, and minority shareholder actions, and a wide array of subject-specific matters ranging from ERISA and environmental to product liability and food products.

Mr. Waddell's experience in construction matters includes residential, commercial and industrial prosecution and defense of claims involving bid awards, design defects, warranty issues, erection disputes, delay claims and surety issues. He has OSHA, environmental and mold experience as well as extensive residential homebuilder representation including RCLA and EIFS claims.

Mr. Waddell provides counsel to national and family-owned businesses in operational and corporate matters including strategies for reducing exposure to liability in operations, contract, insurance, investigations and employment matters.

Mr. Waddell is active in the Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston as a co-chapter attorney.

He was appointed in 1999 and served until November of 2002 as Chair of the Texas Supreme Court's Grievance Oversight Committee which annually reviews the Texas attorney disciplinary system.
