P. Shawn Wood

Biography

Shawn Wood is a partner in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP and a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. He has sixteen years of trial and appellate experience representing companies and individuals in commercial litigation and disputes among business owners. Shawn also currently serves as national counsel for an affiliated group of commercial appliance manufacturers in connection with their product liability litigation.

Shawn is a member of the Federal Trial Bar in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He has successfully tried cases to verdict in Illinois federal and state courts, and has argued as lead counsel before the United States Fifth and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and the Illinois First District Appellate Court.

Shawn currently serves by appointment on the Civil Practice Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association and is the co-author of the ISBA Civil Practice Handbook chapter regarding motion practice. Shawn is also a featured columnist in Chicago Lawyer magazine and a recipient of its Annual Writing Award. He was honored by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin as one of its “40 under 40 Attorneys To Watch” in 2005. Shawn currently serves as co-chair of Seyfarth’s Private Business Disputes practice group.
