John Sabetta

Biography

Mr. Sabetta is a partner concentrating his practice in commercial litigation, with an emphasis in the defense of toxic tort and product liability actions. Mr. Sabetta has been involved in various litigation involving claims of injury from exposure to dioxins, furans, and PCBs. Mr. Sabetta has been the lead defense counsel for Monsanto in the Agent Orange litigation for more than 10 years. The initial phase of that litigation involved some 600 separate actions with more than 15,000 individually named plaintiffs and a class action on behalf of more than 2.5 million United States, Australian, and New Zealand Vietnam veterans and their family members. More recent phases of that litigation have included claims by "future" claimants and others who were not members of the original class. Mr. Sabetta also represents Monsanto in other toxic tort matters and has defended DuPont, Boeing and others in toxic tort and product liability claims. As the chief appellate attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, he supervised the briefing and argument of over 50 appeals to the United States Court of Appeals. He has personally argued over 25 appeals in federal and state courts.
