Biography
Anjanette Cabrera is a senior associate in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ms Cabrera’s practice focuses on labor and employment law. She has experience in all aspects of employment litigation, including discrimination, workplace harassment and retaliation claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. Section 1981, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. She also has litigated numerous actions arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, ERISA, various state and local statutes and common law claims. Ms. Cabrera has substantial trial experience and has litigated employment claims in state and federal courts and administrative agencies in New York, New Jersey, and Ohio. In addition to being an experienced litigator, Ms. Cabrera also counsels clients on compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and conducts workplace investigations.
Prior to joining Seyfarth, Ms. Cabrera served as a law clerk to the Honorable Shelby Highsmith in the Southern District of Florida for one year. Her clerkship was preceded by four years as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County New York. For the first two years, the rotation focused on prosecuting misdemeanors, until Ms. Cabrera was transferred to the Appeals Bureau where she drafted briefs which were eventually argued before the Second Department. After about a year in the Appeals Bureau Ms. Cabrera transferred to the Narcotics Trials Bureau where she prosecuted felony narcotics cases.
