Biography

Robert Tollen is a partner in theWage & Hour Litigation Practice Group in Seyfarth Shaw’s San Francisco office. Mr. Tollen represents management in the area of labor and employment law. He has over 40 years of experience in these areas, including service in the Office of the Solicitor of the U.S. Department of Labor. His practice has a particular emphasis in the areas of litigation before the National Labor Relations Board, litigation of discrimination claims, federal and California wage and hour law, and general California employment regulation.

Since joining Seyfarth Shaw LLP in 1999, Mr. Tollen has stressed wage and hour and California employment regulation. He is one of the leading attorneys in California in those areas and is part of a team of Seyfarth Shaw attorneys specializing in matters arising under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Mr. Tollen has been acknowledged by the California Court of Appeal to be an expert “in the field of labor law particularly concerning wage and hour provisions.” Auchmoody v. 911 Emergency Service, 214 Cal.App.3d 1510, 1518 (1989). He was selected by the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (the Labor Commissioner) to serve as outside counsel to defend the Division against a claim for attorney’s fees arising out of child labor litigation.
