Biography

Jeffrey Schamis offers more than 25 years of experience in real estate law, corporate law and workouts and restructurings.

Mr. Schamis has represented property developers, property managers, institutional lenders, insurance companies and pension fund advisors in a variety of sophisticated real estate investment transactions. He offers a wealth of experience regarding the negotiation and structuring of joint ventures, complex real estate financing transactions, build-to-suits, large scale leasing with and without equity participation on behalf of the tenant, and the workout and restructuring of troubled real estate projects.

Mr. Schamis has particular experience representing institutional lenders, insurance companies, institutional real estate owners and pension fund advisors in the acquisition, disposition, leasing, management and financing of real estate projects. Mr. Schamis has also served clients in the metal products, specialty manufacturing, leasing and computer software industries.

Among his accomplishments, Mr. Schamis represented a life insurance company in the workout of a multimillion dollar loan secured by a major hotel and conference center and assisted an affiliated group of companies in the financing, acquisition, repair, sale and leasing of rail cars and other rolling stock valued in the millions.

Mr. Schamis also represented the buyers in the acquisition of a suburban Chicago hotel, including the negotiation of purchase, licensing and management agreements. He continues to provide advice regarding ongoing operational issues such as the negotiation of long-term room usage agreements with area corporations.
