Biography
Salomon Chiquiar-Rabinovich is an associate in the Boston office, where he practices all aspects of immigration and nationality law. He is the Co-Chair of the International Practice Group on Immigration Law from ius laboris (2007-08), an alliance of law firms in 43 countries who specialize in Labor, Employment and Pensions Law.
Mr. Chiquiar-Rabinovich possesses other legal experience pertaining to Latin America on such topics as workforce training, Corporate Social Responsibility, international trade, government lobbying, tourism, intellectual property, and real estate. He is the Regional President of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA, Region I), Chair, of the HNBA International Business Law Section, and past President of the New England-Latin America Business Council (2006-2007). Mr. Chiquiar-Rabinovich co-chaired the 2008 HNBA Iberoamerican Congress on International Law, Business and Corporate Social Responsibility, in Mexico City.
Prior to relocating to Boston in 1999, Mr. Chiquiar-Rabinovich practiced law in Puerto Rico as Of Counsel for McConnell Valdes, and held several appointed government positions in Puerto Rico, including Assistant Secretary of State in charge of the Bureau of International Exchange and Technical Cooperation from 1993-95. In that capacity, he coordinated the first visit by the Secretary of State of Puerto Rico, and five cabinet members, to Israel at the invitation of then Foreign Minister Shimon Peres.
In 1997, Mr. Chiquiar-Rabinovich was a speaker at Harvard University's first Latin-America-Jewish Symposium. He was a founder of the Puerto Rico-Israel Chamber of Commerce, and was a board member of the Association of America-Israel Chambers of Commerce and of the American Friends of the Israel National Museum of Science. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Boston Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), and of the Board of Directors of the Political Asylum Immigration Representation Project (PAIR). Mr. Chiquiar-Rabinovich is a native of Mexico. He is fluent in Spanish, Yiddish and Hebrew, and has had over eighteen years of experience in dealing extensively with international clients from both Israel and Latin America.
