Biography
Mr. Mignin is a Seyfarth Shaw LLP partner who represents employers in all areas of labor, employment and discrimination law. He represents national clients in single-plaintiff and class action employment and discrimination as well as wage and hour litigation. He also regularly advises clients with regard to union organizing activities and represents clients in labor negotiations, arbitrations and litigation under the National Labor Relations Act. His practice includes working with national and international clients to develop human resources policies and procedures and corporate compliance programs. He regularly counsels clients on new and changing employment and discrimination laws and regulations and he works with employers, both national and international, to develop alternative methods of resolving employment disputes and establish positive employee work environments.
Mr. Mignin lectures nationally and internationally to employers and associations on a variety of employment and discrimination law topics and regularly conducts workshops on labor and employment law ramifications of restructuring and downsizing, mergers and acquisitions, employment and HR policies for international businesses, compliance with U.S. laws and regulations, establishing global codes of conduct, positive employee relations, diversity, employment discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace.
In 2004 and 2005, Mr. Mignin was Co-Chair of two-day programs for corporate counsel presented by NorthStar Conferences L.L.C. entitled “Advanced Approaches to Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Law for In-House Counsel” held in New York City.
Mr. Mignin has been active in the International Bar Association (London) for the past 13 years and has been a regular co-chair of the Labor and Employment Law sessions held at the International Bar Association’s annual conferences. Mr. Mignin was a member of the Host Committee for the International Bar Association’s annual meeting which was held in Chicago in September, 2006.
Effective January 1, 2008, Mr. Mignin was elected for a two year term to be Chair of the Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee of the International Bar Association. In that position, he will be responsible for coordinating all conferences, publications and activities for labor and employment law attorneys who are members of the IBA.
Mr. Mignin is listed in "Who’s Who Legal: An International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, Labour and Employment Attorneys (Law Business Research - London); and “PLC Global Counsel 3000,” a Joint Publication Between Practical Law Company (London) and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Mignin is also listed as a “highly recommended” attorney in Chicago for labor and employee benefits matters. He has also been designated as a “Leading Lawyer” in Illinois.
Mr. Mignin is one of the editors of the popular Federal Employment Laws and Regulations: How to Comply; Employment Discrimination: How to Comply; and The Chicagoland Employment Law Manual.
