Biography

Ms. Zaletel is of counsel in the Los Angeles office, where her practice is focused on advising employers in various aspects of labor and employment law.  Her practice has a particular emphasis in the area of advising employers on human resources and employment relations, employee handbooks and personnel policies, discipline and termination decisions, position statements and internal investigations, including wage and hour issues, reasonable accommodation issues, leaves of absence issues, and compliance with state and federal employment laws.  She regularly assists employers in establishing appropriate labor and employment policies and procedures in all areas of the employment relationship, including those involving compliance with wage and hour payment laws and regulations; discrimination and harassment avoidance; medical leave and compliance with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the California Family Rights Act (CFRA), the California Pregnancy Disability Leave Law (PDLL), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA); protection of employers’ intellectual property and related matters; independent contractor relationships; drug and alcohol testing; and workplace violence.

She also has extensive employment litigation experience in state and federal courts, involving wage and hour, wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment claims.

From 2003 through 2005, Ms. Zaletel served as a law clerk to the Honorable Carolyn Turchin, United States District Court for the Central District of California.
