Biography

Mr. Lazar is a partner in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He assists clients in creating, commercializing and enforcing intellectual property rights, and counseling and litigation in intellectual property, privacy, advertising, promotion and related matters. Mr. Lazar handles copyright, trademark, privacy and new media issues, including advertising, promotion, sweepstakes, marketing, computer software, data use, Internet, employee privacy, cybercrime and entertainment matters. Mr. Lazar acts as lead and local counsel in copyright, trademark, counterfeiting, false advertising, unfair competition, computer fraud and abuse, and Internet-related litigation. Mr. Lazar has handled numerous matters before federal and state agencies, including defending the first Internet privacy case brought by the Federal Trade Commission on behalf of GeoCities and the first enforcement action brought by the New York Attorney General's office under New York's database security breach statute.

Mr. Lazar is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Lazar has lectured at Chicago-Kent College of Law and Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) on copyright, trademark, promotion and privacy issues and he is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).
