Biography
Lauren Breitman Tanen is an associate in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ms. Tanen's practice focuses on labor and employment law. She has experience in all aspects of employment litigation, including discrimination, workplace harassment and retaliation claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. She has also litigated numerous actions arising under the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, ERISA, and various state and local statutes and common law claims. Ms. Tanen has substantial experience negotiating and drafting executive employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and severance agreements, and addressing executive compensation related issues. In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Tanen regularly counsels clients on compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, conducts sensitivity trainings, including empowering companies to address issues of domestic violence in the workplace, administers workplace internal investigations, and oversees OFCCP audits. Ms. Tanen also has experience with Union collective bargaining agreement negotiations and arbitrations of labor grievances.Prior to joining Seyfarth, Ms. Tanen was an associate in the Labor and Employment Group at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Previously, Ms. Tanen spent three years as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, New York. For the first two years, she was staffed in the Domestic Violence Bureau until Ms. Tanen was transferred to the Appeals Bureau where she drafted briefs.
