Biography

Mr. Newland is a partner practicing labor and employment law in the San Francisco office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He has extensive first chair trial experience, in both federal and state courts, obtaining defense verdicts for clients such as Paccar (Grand Auto), Pinkerton, Georgia-Pacific, The Staubach Company and AMTRAK. Mr. Newland has represented clients including Supercuts, Accenture and Core-Mark in both state and federal wage hour classification matters. He also counsels clients in a variety of industries, including television production companies, wineries, recreational resorts, e-commerce, restaurants and professional services, on all aspects of traditional labor and employment law. In addition, Mr. Newland has lectured for various employer oriented groups, including the Council On Education In Management, Chamber Of Commerce and Practicing Law Institute, on a variety of topics, including union avoidance, electronic monitoring, wage/work compliance and leave law obligations.
