Biography

Ms. Reathaford is an associate in the Labor & Employment department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

Before joining Seyfarth Shaw in October 2007, Ms. Reathaford worked as an attorney at a boutique labor and employment law firm in Los Angeles where she assisted with all facets of the litigation process in labor and employment disputes.  Ms. Reathaford has significant litigation experience, primarily in U.S. District Court, as well as experience litigating class action lawsuits.  Ms. Reathaford assisted in obtaining a string of favorable judgments for a client in a hotly contested and procedurally complex wage and hour class action, which was tried in federal court.  The Court issued several written opinions deciding complicated pre-trial and post-trial motions in the client’s favor.

Prior to that, Ms. Reathaford worked for the Canadian Department of Justice where she defended the Federal Government against claims of sexual harassment, discrimination and civil rights violations and advised other departmental attorneys across Canada about the law in these areas.  Ms. Reathaford also provided legal assistance to attorneys working on behalf of plaintiffs in the Los Angeles’ Rampart Scandal which resulted in many of those clients obtaining substantial judgments.

Ms. Reathaford earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1994 and her law degree from Dalhousie University in 1998 where she twice made law review and received national distinction for one of her published articles.  After graduation, Ms. Reathaford had the distinct opportunity to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable Justice Marshall Rothstein of the Federal Court of Canada (Trial and Appeal Divisions) who has since been appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Ms. Reathaford routinely speaks to management students at Pepperdine University on the topic of labor and employment law in the workplace.
