Biography
Mr. Unikel is a partner in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He has been involved in over 100 bench and jury trials involving a variety of intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, as well as antitrust, unfair competition and complex multiparty or multi-case matters. Mr. Unikel also has considerable appellate experience, having argued over 30 appeals in state and federal courts throughout the country.
Mr. Unikel has been patent trial and appellate counsel in cases involving a wide variety of subject matter and technology. He has represented diverse clients in all aspects of patent and trademark litigation, including hearings on motions for temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions, full jury and bench trials on issues of liability and damages and appeals. Mr. Unikel also has substantial experience in litigation matters involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants in employment contracts, restrictive covenants in the sales of businesses, and unfair competition, antitrust and complex business disputes.
Mr. Unikel has considerable experience in product liability litigation involving a variety of products, including medical devices. Mr. Unikel has been involved in MDL and coordinated state products liability litigation.
