Candace L. Quinn

Biography

Candace L. Quinn is of counsel in the in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

Ms. Quinn has over 20 years of tax and legal experience in the employee benefits and executive compensation area with respect to corporate and not-for-profit entities.  Prior to joining the firm, she was a partner in a major New York law firm and had significant employee benefits tax experience at the international accounting firm of KPMG, LLP.

Her practice focuses on operational compliance as well as counseling on tax and legal matters concerning qualified retirement plans, tax sheltered annuity plans, governmental plans and non-qualified deferred compensation programs.  Ms. Quinn provides counsel on executive compensation planning including the design of short and long-term incentive programs as well as equity and non-equity based plans.  She regularly advises on health, welfare and retiree medical programs including voluntary employee beneficiary associations.

Her clients have included public and private companies from the finance and technology sector, healthcare, tax-exempt colleges, universities, charitable organizations, governmental entities, boards of directors, and compensation committees.

Ms. Quinn has counseled clients on tax, ERISA, fiduciary duty standards and corporate governance under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  She has conducted extensive due diligence operational compliance reviews of qualified retirement plans, governmental and tax-sheltered annuity plans including integrating third party administration and vendor agreements; and transactional reviews for mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, represented plan sponsors regarding plan corrections to the IRS and Department of Labor for compliance, counseled clients in audits, managed, tax controversies and resolutions and has obtained IRS recognition of tax-exempt status for numerous organizations.
