Seyfarth Shaw was founded in Chicago in 1945 by distinguished labor lawyers who were both practical and visionary. The Chicago office remains the firm's largest office and has grown in depth and breadth. Our lawyers practice in virtually all aspects of the law that relate to today’s business operations. The Chicago office has maintained its nationally recognized strength in the areas of labor and employment and employee benefits law, while greatly expanding and strengthening its practices in the areas of corporate and banking, environmental, estate planning, finance, real estate, intellectual property and litigation. Its 2003 merger with D'Ancona & Pflaum was an important part of fulfilling the firm's vision to be a full service law firm and added depth to all of the Chicago office's practice areas. In order to better accommodate our clients, the Chicago office moved to a new building in the summer of 2006. Seyfarth Shaw’s new award-winning Chicago office is custom designed to reflect its collaborative culture and commitment to provide excellent client service.
The Chicago office also prides itself on it efforts to immerse the firm into the fabric of the greater Chicago community - providing pro bono legal services, supporting important civic and bar events and helping to raise money for worthy causes. The Chicago office is proud to be a major benefactor of the American Cancer Society and its Relay for Life and is equally honored to hold the American Heart Association's "Law Chalice" as the city's top law firm donor to the American Heart Association's Chicagoland Heart Walk.
Community Service
In addition to our pro bono legal work, the Chicago office participates in many community service projects. Our two flagship charity partners are the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. In the Spring, the Chicago office rallies to support the ACS through participation in the Relay for Life, the Discovery Ball, and various related fundraising activities. In the Fall, Seyfarth fields a huge team for the AHA’s Heart Walk in Grant Park. The Chicago office has been the top law firm fundraiser for the Heart Walk in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Chicago attorneys and staff also serve on mentoring teams for ten Chicago public high school students and participate in numerous other individual and group activities.
